Every production begins long before opening night. Encore Theatre Company holds open auditions for every show — and we mean open. You don't need a résumé, a headshot, or years of experience. You need a willingness to show up and a little courage. The rest, as they say, is theater.

New to Auditioning?
Encore Theatre Company is a community theater in every sense. Our casts include first-time performers and seasoned veterans, high schoolers and retirees, teachers and tradespeople. What matters is the work, not the résumé. We've been proving that since 1978.
- Do I need experience?
- Not at all. Many of our most beloved company members walked in with no theater background whatsoever. Auditions are open to everyone.
- What should I prepare?
- Requirements vary by production — check the individual audition listing. When in doubt, a short prepared monologue is a solid baseline. For musicals, prepare 16–32 bars of a song in a similar style.
- Are youth welcome?
- Absolutely. Select mainstage productions feature roles for young performers. Our Stages program is specifically designed for students in grades 3–12.
- Can I audition for Encore Kids or Stages?
- Yes — both youth programs hold their own audition process each August. Visit our Programs page for dates, details, and registration.
